Key Features at a Glance
Orchestration of Hyper-V disaster recovery operations
Advanced functionality to improve performance
Efficient usage of storage space
Non-disruptive Hyper-V disaster recovery testing
Instant recovery of VMs, individual files, and application objects
Automation of data protection activities
User-friendly and intuitive interface
Application-Aware Mode
NAKIVO Backup & Replication provides a way to create backups and replicas in an
application-aware mode. With this feature, you can rest assured that data inside
your applications and databases is backed up in a transactionally-consistent
way.
Flexible Retention Scheme
With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can keep recovery points from any period
you need. For Hyper-V environments, these are 30 and 4,000 recovery points for
replicas and backups, respectively.
Instant Recovery
NAKIVO Backup & Replication enables you to instantly recover your VMs, as well
as individual files, folders, and application objects. This allows for a
granular approach and thus, saves your time.
Hyper-V Disaster Recovery with NAKIVO Backup & Replication
NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers a fully-fledged solution to help you ensure
disaster recovery when using Hyper-V in basically no time.
Hyper-V Replication
The replication technology in our product enables you to quickly minimize the
effects of an unpredicted occurrence. With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can
simply power on the VM replica if a disaster strikes your primary environment.
This way, you may have your business operations running right away, with no need
to restore the VM first. Until needed, the replica VM remains in a powered-off
state and does not consume CPU, memory, or network resources. You can store your
VM replicas on-site or at a remote location, or do even better and use both.
With a VM replica in place, you can improve recovery times, thus avoiding
substantial interruptions in your business functions.
Hyper-V Replication from Backup
A comprehensive Hyper-V disaster recovery plan requires you to both back up and
replicate your production VMs. With Replication from Backup, another feature of
our product, you can perform VM replication directly from backups. This not only
allows you to reduce recovery time, but also to avoid snapshot overhead,
offloading your production environment in turn. This is a great helper for
infrastructures with large quantities of VMs, hosts, and applications, where
snapshot redundancy may negatively affect network performance. Moreover, the Job
Chaining feature provides a way to link jobs so that they automatically start
one another, saving you time and manual effort.
Automated Hyper-V VM Failover
A wise step would be to decide how to implement Hyper-V failover disaster
recovery algorithm in your overall strategy. With the Automated VM Failover
feature, you can resume operations after a disaster just by running a single
job. The only thing you need is a valid replica of your VM. Once you have your
VM successfully replicated, you can create a set of failover jobs to automate
the Hyper-V disaster recovery process. Moreover, our functionality allows you to
set up network mapping and re-IP rules to reconfigure VM networking upon
failover. After your VM is recovered, you can perform a failback to return the
workloads to the production site.
Site Recovery
The Site Recovery functionality allows you to manage Hyper-V disaster recovery
across multiple sites. You can create several algorithms of actions to be
prepared for any disaster scenario. Our product regularly scans your environment
and sends notifications if any of your VMs cannot be reached. What¡¦s more,
disaster recovery activities can easily be automated to further reduce downtime.
To make sure your Hyper-V disaster recovery plan is indeed effective, regularly
test and update your existing jobs. Our solution allows for doing this without
disrupting your production environment.
